Projects //CATS LYNX Blue Line Extension - Segment B/C

BACKGROUND

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) extended the LYNX Blue Line light rail from uptown Charlotte northeast to the campus of UNC-Charlotte. The rail system design ran through the middle of Tryon Road, one of the most heavily traveled in greater Charlotte. CATS contracted Lane Construction, who chose Tricor Construction and SINE WALL as wall supplier due to the complexity in design and aesthetics required.

CONTRACTOR

INFRASTRUCTURE OWNER

CHALLENGES

Specialty panel patterns, acute corner bin walls, back to back walls and pilaster designs

RESULT

SINE WALL partnered with the contractor teams to manage a complex project under various schedule adjustments. The end result is a wall system that meets the design structural requirements while expressing the vision of the project artist. SINE WALL and our partners delivered on time for the opening of rail traffic in 2016 and provided Charlotte residents with a unique alternative to standard walls.
